My Philosophy

My Story
My name is Danette Wickman and I own and operate Focused Nutrition. My story began as a teenager trying to improve the health of my dad's chronic disease, Type 2 Diabetes, through good nutrition and exercise. As a teen, I came to understand the impact of his lifestyle on his health. I attended Iowa State University where I received my dietetics degree and later became board certified as a diabetes care and education specialist.

Present day, I have two daughters who are high level athletes, one is Division1 NCAA gymnast, and the other is pursuing soccer in the NCAA. In my free time, I enjoy running races, boating, and attending South Florida's professional sporting events, aka: Dolphins, Panthers, and Intermiami.

At Focused Nutrition, my philosophy is to provide personalized nutritional plans that cater to the unique needs and goals of each one of my clients. As your dietitian, I am dedicated to helping you achieve optimal health through balanced, whole foods-based diets, exercise, sleep, and mental well-being.
The Process
At Focused Nutrition, the process begins with first establishing a relationship with the client and understanding their motivations and concerns.
The appointment is scheduled by Zoom or in-person at the client's home, within a reasonable radius of the business.

A comprehensive assessment is then completed including but not limited to:
-
Health history
-
Current medications/supplements
-
Recent labs and analysis
-
Weight history
-
Anthropometrics- Body Fat Analysis if home visit
-

-

-

-
Sleep patterns
-
Lifestyle and social history
From the Nutrition Assessment, a personalized meal plan is created, focusing on the client's needs and specific goals. Ongoing support and guidance are provided throughout the client's journey.
Limited weekend appointments are available for established clients.
